This brilliant novel revolves around what is broken – relationships, family ties, trust – and the reconstruction process. Even the strange coincidences in the last third of the book never felt anything less than pitch-perfect: a tribute to exercise care by Verghese and his eloquence, pitch-perfect writing.
For me, it is rare for a book of this size, one that the type of character I’ve ever seen the creation of tripping, the characters are now so vivid in my mind as one of the real people who populate my world. Is the first of many novels, Verghese product for us, his readers the chance.

In this great novel, that question is answered in the affirmative again and again. If your brother is your identical twin, an orphan, a disgruntled neighbor or a stranger, everyone deserves to be treated.
Started in India, the story goes to Africa, where they until the protagonist travels to America remains. Marion, the narrator of this fictional autobiography, part of a series of monozygotic twins. His birth and life in the mission, Missing, form the basis for the conflicts and triumphs are contained in the novel. The historical context, the internal conflict in Ethiopia and shots to give the atmosphere more realistic depth of book. Given the title of “stone cutting” of the Hippocratic oath, but also reflect mai a double meaning. The biological father of Marion and his twin brother, Shiva, Thomas Stone, a famous surgeon. This is one of the most important books I had the privilege of reading. Verghese is an experienced author and leads the reader into the book immediately. The characters are strong, very interesting and human conflict are realistic and continue to advance the pace of the novel. Even the minor characters are so well developed, so that readers want to know more about their lives. There is light humor, emotional and a great personal victory throughout the book.

In my opinion, that the brand is a big book – the author has taken your attention and requires quietly made you give up nothing. You can, if necessary, to read this book in several sessions without interest or forget what happened earlier.
If I liked this book more than five stars, because I want to evaluate. It is truly a masterpiece.

Many readers will say that cutting the stone is an epic tale of Siamese twins by a British surgeon and a brilliant Indian well designed. And it is technical. Marion said the first twin is born, we are of any influence on him and his brother told existence. More than history, however, said that the novel is an accurate portrayal of life in all its horrors and wonders.
The mother dies in childbirth and his father left later, its minutes. They are raised at a medical missionary in Ethiopia. As they grow, are forced to face their past and future, again, down the importance of fate, love and family.
In reading the finer points, you will notice a great effort that the history of research and is packed with medical jargon and situations, as well as vivid descriptions of the Ethiopian culture and history. My only reservation in recommending the book is at times difficult novels, “like almost every imaginable tragedy, prejudice these brothers and medical interventions and ornaments are very detailed. Squeamish may want to skim some of these passages.
Ultimately, this novel tells an elegant, well structured and the most original piece of fiction I’ve read in years. It is worth every positive adjective I can throw around, wonderful and exciting. You want to own and get lost in this book again and again. Buy it now and thank me later.

The plot of the book may well be: cut stone follows the lives of two boys from birth to adulthood. Boys, Marion and Shiva are identical twins at birth, who became a surrogate mother and raised by family and grow on the grounds of the hospital missing orphans in Ethiopia. It is an epic story that feels comfortable and familiar and enveloping. The characters are like my family and I feel at home when I visited Missing hospital matron and staff.
I usually read quickly, finishing a book in one or two days. Cutting stone has lasted over a week. The story is convincing, but gradually I appreciate the words and images of Addis Ababa with the eyes of Marion. I have not finished the journey.
I recommend this book to all my friends play for a long period and can not wait for Dr. Verghese to scroll through my city when his book tour going. Get a copy and read – you will not be disappointed.

You know how some novels have only you? Enter the hair, head, heart, teeth, gonads? Well, it’s epic family saga, one of them. It takes a little time – you need to have a little patience, because it represents the number of leading and supporting roles, was the place, and the son of history. Around page 80, is ballast clear.
